Books, Books & Books.

I'm going to have a very good mail day(s) next week.

I've ordered another 7 patterns from BMV - it was such a good sale and I've also  bought an out of print patterns I've been wanting to buy for ages.  Unfortunately, my wish list seems to be getting longer all the time as I see patterns I must have on the blogs I visit. Talk about enabling!

Another enabler is  Carolyn.  I read her post about buying  Professional Sewing Secrets for Designers.  I remembered that this book had been sitting in my wish list for several years.  It's now winging it's way to me along with Vogue Sewing.

I've ordered these 2 books from The Book Depository.  It worked out about $10.00 difference in price compared to Amazon, but I figured that Book Depository are much faster with delivery times.  It takes about a week from the UK as opposed to Amazon who takes about a month to 6 weeks to deliver to Australia.

Then I decided to make a night of it and ordered another 3 books from Amazon - knowing that the delivery time is so much later, I'll have something else to look forward to next month.
I ordered:

High Style: Masterworks from the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Costume-Detail-Womens-Dress-1730-1930

Wear This, Toss That!

Just after I submitted my order to Amazon, I received an email to say that the books had been processed and shipped.  I was quite surprised.
Have now retired my credit card for some time - I figure that I've done enough damage for one day.
I'm really looking forward to all my parcels arriving next week though!

Week 4

I'm very pleased that I lost another 300gms this week.  So for the month of January, a total of 2.3kg.  I'm quite happy about that!

I don't notice any difference in my clothes and how they fit as yet - but that will come.
I bought 2 black ponti skirts the other week from Target.  One at mid calf length and one at knee length - they look good on.  I did buy a pair of high control top knickers to suck everything in and smooth out some lumpy bits - unfortunately, they were a size too small.  It's not pretty getting them on and then I discover, the knickers are actually a swimsuit bottom!!!  I really should start wearing my glasses when I go shopping.  Oh well, not too worry, I just need a tankini style top and I'm all set for the pool.

Ultimately, I'm aiming for a Size 18 in pattern sizing - which I last wore about 17 years ago - gulp!  I suppose it took 17  years  to gain, it's going to take a little time to lose (but, hopefully, not 17 years!!)
I did lose 18kg about 18 years ago in 16 weeks - but that was on a very restricted diet.  My son Hadden, was diagnosed with severe food allergies as a baby and as I was breastfeeding him, I had to avoid everything he was allergic to.  Mind you, he was allergic to just about everything. Thankfully, he's outgrown a lot of the allergies, but he  still has quite a few to contend with.
Needless to say, once I stopped being so careful about what I could and couldn't eat, I  got complacent (and also another pregnancy) the weight crept back and stayed.

Australia Day 2012

Happy Australia Day!

I have nothing planned for today - except a day of rest and relaxation and staying cool!  Unfortunately, I couldn't take tomorrow off work as annual leave - to make it a long weekend, but I'm definitely going to enjoy my day of not working today!!

I slept in 'til quite late this morning, so  no getting up at 5-00am this morning!  I'll go for a walk later this evening when it's a lot cooler.

Week 2 & Week 3

Week 2

I lost a whopping 100 grams for this week - A little bit disappointing, but that averages out to just under a kilogram for each week, so not too bad!

Week 3

Still walking nearly every morning and evening (well except for this weekend) so just about 2 hours of brisk walking a day, eating lots of salads, no lollies, sweets etc and I lost another whopping 100grams!  To say I'm a little peeved is an understatement!!
I'm now telling myself that I'm building muscle and that weighs more!!!
I must admit that the aches and pains from the walking have disappeared and I do enjoy the time to myself - but getting up so early in the morning is the pits.
Oh well, I hope that at the end of week 4 I'll have more to report that a loss of 100 grams though!

Have had a very quiet weekend - felt so tired yesterday and did not much except read and doze.  Today, we took Laura to work and Neale and I went out to lunch at my favourite cafe, followed by a spot of window shopping and grocery shopping and more reading. Didn't need to cook tea as we were so full from lunch.
Once I start reading I just don't stop and have read 5 books this weekend!

Only 4 days of work this week as Thursday is a public holiday for Australia Day - I'm already looking forward to it!
