Tie Dyed Panne Velvet

I drove into Morwell this morning and had a quick wander through Spotlight. I found a lovely panne velvet in a tie dyed khaki colour - sounds really bad, but it was soo nice. I'm considering it for the V1022 cardigan I have written about in a previous post. It was $10-00per metre.
I haven't bought it as yet, but I'll probably go back and get it!

Drape-Classical Mode to Contempory Dress

Yesterday, I travelled to Melbourne to attend the above exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. It was wonderful to see these dresses and marvel at the designer's mastery of draping.
The exhibition is on until approx Mid June.
Gowns on display were by designers such as Marc Bohan (Christian Dior), Rei Kawakubo (Comme Des Garcons), Gianni Versace, Madeleine Vionnet, Yohji Yamamoto, Christian Dior, Vivenne Westwood - just to name a few. My favourite was an English gown dated to 1913 in the style of Poiret - just beautiful.

Burda Magazines

Today, I went into the next town to collect my held copies of Burda magazine. I picked up December and January's issues. Have as yet to really sit down with them and see what I'd like to make. I've got a stack of Burdas - but have as yet to make anything from them. Dreams and possibilities!

Have spent some of today sorting through patterns. I've stored them in shopping bags, baskets etc. I've now bought several 20l plastic storage containers and am sorting them into them.
I didn't realise just how many I have accumulated over the years! (I've also got a huge list on my Ipod of patterns I'd still like to buy).
I spoke to a friend today with whom I was at college with, and told her what I was doing with the patterns she wanted to know why I was still buying patterns - seeing as we studied Fashion with pattern drafting being a main subject!
My daughter Laura has now outgrown the children's patterns I had bought for her so I'll pack them up and put them away.
I'm off to continue sorting and seeing what I have. Haven't found any double - ups - as yet!

Back Again

Well, I'm on holidays from my job. I don't return to work until the 3rd May.
I'm not going anywhere - just planning to stay home, relax and catch up on sleep.
I'm in the process of cleaning up the house also, but am easily distracted - so it's taking me ages to do.

Have been into Morwell this morning to Spotlight and have bought Vogue Pattern V1022. I love long cardigans! I'll probably make it up in a panne velvet. I'm still kicking myself for not buying a spectacular panne velvet I saw in Melbourne years ago - it would have been perfect for this cardigan!
